Online Backup Security
Overview
The security and reliability of our online backup system takes the highest priority. Multiple layers of security are provided to ensure that your data can be accessed by you only.
File Encryption
All data is encrypted using AES encryption before it even leaves your PC/Server. Data is encrypted using a key known only to you. The content of your backup remains unreadable without the correct key - even by BackupVault staff.
Note: Never forget your encryption key - as we will be unable to restore your data!
Connection & Transfer
The backup software at the customer's premises connects to our backup servers over the Internet using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This is the same kind of encryption used by all online banking transactions. Once the account has been authorised, the encrypted data is sent securely over the Internet to our storage servers.
Datacenter Physical Security
BackupVault uses two datacenters provided by Connections 4 London. Both datacenters feature the highest level of physical security and safety, including:
- 24 Hour Video Recording
- Biometric & Pin Access
- Secure & gated access to authorised personnel only
- Fully Alarmed
- Fire Suppression System
- N+1 Redundant Battery & Power Backup
- N+1 Redundant Air Conditioning

ISO Accreditation
In addition to physical and software based security, the datacenter also has a number of ISO credentials. It has ISO 9001 (Quality Assurance) indicating our commitment to providing the highest standards across our range of solutions. It also has ISO 27001 (Information Security) indicating that your data will be held secure and confidential.
