Configure SQL 2005 & 2008 Express for Attix5 SQL Plugin

The Attix5 Pro plugin connects to SQL using port 1433 and uses SQL authentication (usually the sa account). By default on most Windows operating systems port 1433 and SQL authentication is not enabled and needs to be configured.

Enable port 1433 (on local server):

  1. Run SQL Server Configuration Manager and click on SQL Server Network Configuration, then Protocols for SQLEXPRESS
  2. Select the IP Addresses tab
  3. Scroll down to the section IPALL and specify the TCP Port 1433
  4. Apply the changes and restart the SQL service

Configure the SQL username:

  1. Run SQL Server Management Studio Express and login using your Windows credentials
  2. Set the sa account server role to have sysadmin access
  3. Set/reset the sa password as required

You will now be able to continue configuring the Attix5 SQL plugin using the SQL Plugin knowledgebase article.
