How to check or reset your password or encryption key on BackupVault Pro

During the initial installation of the BackupVault Pro software, users are asked to provide an encryption key and password when creating an account. To change either the encryption key or password, follow the instructions below:

Change the user account password

  1. Open the BackupVault Pro client software and click on Tools, Options.
  2. Click Change Password. Enter in your existing password in the box provided.
  3. Enter the new password you would like in the box provided and click Ok.
  4. The client software will connect to the Storage Platform and update the settings on the main Account Server.

Change the user account encryption key

  1. Open the BackupVault Pro client software and click on ToolsOptions.
  2. Click Change Encryption Key. Enter in your existing encryption key in the box provided.
  3. Enter the new encryption key you would like in the box provided and click Ok.
  4. The client software will connect to the Storage Platform and update the settings on the main Account Server.

Check the account encryption key

  1. Open the BackupVault Pro client software and click on ToolsOptions.
  2. Click Check Encryption Key. Enter in your existing encryption key in the box provided.
  3. Enter the encryption key and click Verify



  4. If you cannot remember your encryption key you will need to create a new backup account. Contact Support for help.
 
Encryption Key Warning

Note: If you forget the encryption key we will not be able to reset this for you. We will also be UNABLE TO RESTORE OR DECRYPT ANY OF YOUR DATA. Please do not forget this encryption key!
